Reflecting on a Month of Overseas Corporate Retreats
Reflecting on a Month of Overseas Corporate Retreats
As the sunny bank holiday and a much-needed half-term break drew to a close, I found myself reflecting on what has been an incredibly busy and rewarding month. After plenty of travelling, it was also a welcome opportunity to recharge and restore some balance between work and family life.
Exploring Boise for US Company Retreats
The month began with a whirlwind trip to Boise in Idaho, a unique city in the north-western United States offering amazing outdoor adventures, a lively arts scene, and a rich Basque culture that brings fun festivals and delicious food. While brief, the visit was packed with productive meetings and site visits as we scout for the best US corporate retreat destinations.
State-of-the-Art Conference Venues in Idaho
I had the chance to tour the Boise Centre, an impressive conference venue capable of hosting corporate events for up to 2,000 attendees, before meeting with a client to discuss an exciting future project.
Unique Offsite Venues and Evening Dinners
Beyond the standard meeting rooms, I spent time exploring some fantastic options for offsite dinners and executive team-building activities. These included Boise Zoo, Boise Arena (home of the Idaho Steelheads ice hockey team), and the Idaho Botanical Garden. Although parts of the gardens were undergoing significant redevelopment, it was easy to see the potential for creating a truly memorable experience in such a beautiful setting.

Hosting Overseas Incentive Trips in Athens
From Idaho, it was on to Athens for an annual overseas incentive trip. This year marked the third time we've organised the event, and once again it exceeded expectations. Over forty top performers earned their place on this exclusive trip and were rewarded with an unforgettable programme packed with authentic local experiences.
Unforgettable Cultural and Dining Experiences
Guests explored the iconic Acropolis with expert guides, followed a culinary trail through the city sampling Greek delicacies, and enjoyed a spectacular three-course dinner beneath the Acropolis itself. As if the setting wasn't dramatic enough, an unexpected lightning storm provided a truly unforgettable backdrop. The adventure continued with a 4x4 rally through Sounio National Park to the magnificent Temple of Poseidon, a visit with a local beekeeper to sample freshly produced honey, and a stunning farewell dinner cruise that provided the perfect finale to an exceptional few days.

Designing Immersive Corporate Travel in Sicily
Just across the Ionian Sea, Matt and Chloe were delivering a similar programme in Sicily. Alongside immersive local workshops and a memorable boat trip, guests experienced the unique opportunity to trek across the craters of Mount Etna and explore one of the region's fascinating volcanic caves.
Large-Scale Conference Management in London
Back in the UK, the Rockitfish team was just as busy. While I was travelling, the team delivered a major conference and evening celebration for more than 700 delegates. Managing large-scale events like this involved a chartered flight to London, several coaches, hotel room blocks, bespoke registration services, live translation support, and eye-catching branding created by our talented in-house design team.
From the moment guests stepped off their transport, it was clear that every detail had been meticulously planned. From the registration desk and striking stage graphics to the branded coasters and drinks toppers, each element worked together to create a memorable and cohesive experience. This project had been 16 months in the making, and the team's dedication and hard work paid off. The event was a tremendous success, culminating in a fantastic celebration to mark our client's 10-year anniversary in style.
Delivering Diverse Corporate Events and Summer Parties
Elsewhere, the rest of the team were delivering a diverse range of events, providing entertainment at the annual Truckfest event, managing conferences across London, and organising family fun days, an array of team-building activities, and the first of many summer parties.
Growing Our Corporate Events Team
May also brought exciting news for the Rockitfish team as we welcomed Ailsa, our newest Project Manager. Ailsa has spent the last 6 years in event and administration roles in London and Canada and has recently relocated back to the UK. In her most recent role, she was Event and Office Manager for a property company organising both internal and external events. Additionally, she has managed AGMs, charity events, induction events, and investor days. With our events calendar continuing to grow, we're delighted to have her on board and look forward to seeing the impact she'll make.
It was also a milestone month for our Project Executive, Chloe, who successfully delivered her first solo project. Taking ownership of an event from start to finish is a significant achievement, and we're incredibly proud of the professionalism, dedication and confidence she demonstrated throughout.
While the final week of the month offered a slightly slower pace, it certainly wasn't quiet. Preparations are already well underway for what promises to be an even busier June, and the entire team is excited to continue creating memorable experiences for our clients.
Here's to another fantastic month ahead.
